Geology and geochronology of the Don Javier Cu-Mo porphyry deposit, southern Peru

•Geology characteristics of the Don Javier porphyry deposit in the Paleocene-early Eocene Cu belt southern Peru.•First geochronological results for the Yarabamba granodiorite host rock, mineralization, and coeval porphyry intrusions at Don Javier.•Don Javier has a Paleogene mineralization age and a possible Eocene hydrothermal activity might partly reset the molybdenite Re-Os age.
