Molecular and Pharmacological Bladder Cancer Therapy Screening: Discovery of Clofarabine as a Highly Active Compound

High-throughput genomic/drug screening of an extended cell line collection identified the antileukaemic drug clofarabine as a potent, subtype-independent, antibladder cancer agent. Its excellent activity was confirmed in multiple patient-derived cell/xenograft models, suggesting clofarabine as an ideal candidate for bladder cancer drug repurposing.
