Reliability enhancement of non-contact fever screening technology (thermography, etc.) for quarantine inspection

We have been developing the technology for reliable non-contact body temperature measurement, which contributes to the prevention of new infectious diseases. As a part of this study, we are developing a highly accurate on-site temperature reference with a planar blackbody (reference infrared radiator) that can correct fever-screening thermography. We have established a process to manufacture a planar blackbody material offering a high emissivity of >0.99, which would be less affected by surroundings (background infrared radiation, etc.) when correcting and evaluating thermographic cameras. The target temperature setting accuracy of the planar blackbody radiator would be < 0.2 °C. Thereby the error factors of fever-screening thermography including device performance (stability, response uniformity, etc.), target parameters (emissivity, distance, etc.), and ambient environment (temperature, etc.) would be inspected and corrected in more detail.
