Uncovering the Leichhardt Superbasin and Kalkadoon-Leichhardt Complex in the southern Mount Isa Terrane, Australia

•First geochronological data from the southern Mount Isa Terrane under deep cover.•Ages of ca. 1865 and 1800–1760 Ma are linked to the Kalkadoon-Leichhardt Complex and Leichhardt Superbasin.•The southwestern Mount Isa Terrane can be correlated to the eastern and northern Gawler Craton.•Archean lithosphere is present under the Mount Isa Terrane.•Archean detritus in the Mount Isa Terrane may be derived from then-proximal Gawler Craton.
