Numerical simulation and manufacturing of infrared photonic-crystal fibers based on the AgBr-AgI system crystals for the 2-25 mu m

The article is devoted to the design and manufacture of photonic crystal fibers based on the AgBr-AgI system crystals for the spectral range of 2-25 mu m. The design included two simulation stages, according to the results the geometric parameters and crystals chemical compositions for the fibers manufacture were selected: a hexagonally located inserts with a diameter 20 mu m, a pitch 200 mu m, matrix material is AgBr0.87I0.13, ring inserts - AgBr0.93I0.07, central insert - AgBr0.82I0.18. The largest field diameter of the fundamental mode was 384.0 mu m. Photonic crystal fibers were manufactured. The simulation results were verified and the single-mode operation with an increased mode field was confirmed.
