•Hybrid constraint strategy is proposed for multi-line laser absorption spectroscopy.•Multiple solution issue is improved and convergence time is reduced for multi-line LAS.•Quantitative and accurate measurements are achieved in laminar flames.•Significant thermochemical gradient in jet flames is successfully captured.
