Studies on the design and properties of FeCrVTix medium-entropy alloys for potential nuclear applications

•A novelty and proven method to design HEAs/MEAs — thermodynamic calculation and coupling with selection of low activation and functional elements and phase composition estimation.•FeCrVTix MEAs as a model material, is designed to meet the material requirements of future advanced nuclear energy systems.•Designed MEAs show excellent properties of mechanical, thermal, corrosion and irradiation resistance for potential nuclear applications, as predicted by the design method.
