All-organic Polyamide 11/p(vinylidene Fluoride–trifluoroethylene) Nanocomposites with Enhanced Dielectric Properties

Nanocomposite has received more and more attention since it is an effective and convenient method to enhance the electrical properties of ferroelectric polymers. Compared with other nanocomposites, all-organic nanocomposites are more attractive due to better mechanical flexibility compared with composites with inorganic fillers. In this paper, PA11 (polyamide 11)/P(VDF–TrFE) [P(vinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene)] all-organic nanocomposites with low content (below 3 wt%) of PA11 nanoparticles were fabricated via a simple and efficient solution method. The PA11 nanoparticles in nanocomposites are small in size and are evenly distributed. The dielectric performance of nanocomposite films shows obvious enhancement with respect to the P(VDF–TrFE) matrix. The microstructure characterization results show that the structure of the copolymer slightly changed after the incorporation of PA11 nanoparticles. We propose that the improved dielectric performance in nanocomposites could be attributed to the interfacial effect between PA11 and P(VDF–TrFE) matrix. This research provides a simple and cost-effective approach to produce all-organic nanocomposites with good flexibility and improved electrical performance.
