Lawyers, Scribes and Licenciados in Jocose Genres of Spanish Golden Literature: from los Suenos by Quevedo to entremeses and villancicos

This article aims to analyze the figure of the letrado in seventeenth-century Spain from the point of view of humorous literary genres. This figure is diversified in others such as the escribano and the licenciado. We proceed to do study of the character's evolution from its medieval antecedents and synthesize the vision of the letrado in Quevedo to enter fully into the treatment of the figure in short theatrical genres, such as entremeses and villancicos.
