In vitro anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and cytotoxic effects of extracted colorants from two species of dragon fruit (Hylocereus spp.)

摘要
•Both the species of dragon fruit (H. polyrhizus and H. undatus).are enrich of phenolic contents but H. polyrhizus is predominant.•Aqueous extracted colorant of H. polyrhizus have predominant anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.•Both the species of dragon fruit (H. polyrhizus and H. undatus) extracted colorant showed anti-bacterial activity against all the tested bacterial strains.•H. polyrhizus species of aqueous extracted colorant showed promising anti-bacterial susceptibility against salmonella typhi and enterococcus faecium.•The aqueous extracted colorant of H. polyrhizus exhibited remarkable nontoxic effects as compared to H. undatus extracted colorant.
