The Role of Place Types on Social Satisfaction As Influenced by Covid and Disabilities

An individual’s participation in community life is important to their health, well-being, self-determination, and quality of life. Planners and policymakers influence well-being, facilitated by community amenities and related land-use. This is an exploration into different amenities, referred to as place types , and the influence on social satisfaction amidst the COVID pandemic. A nation-wide online survey was conducted. We discovered place types play a role in social satisfaction, and importantly that people with disabilities experienced greater loss of satisfaction pertaining to outdoor recreation and health care places, but the differences were not as significant for other place types.
