A systematic review of licensed weight-loss medications in treating antipsychotic-induced weight gain and obesity in schizophrenia and psychosis

•Liraglutide shows statistically significant improvement in weight, body mass index, and waist circumference.•Liraglutide was not found to negatively affect psychiatric symptoms.•Liraglutide was not found to respond differently in psychiatric populations compared to the general population.•Evidence was mixed on the efficacy of naltrexone-bupropion.•There is limited research for other licensed weight-loss medications in antipsychotic-induced weight gain.
