•Antistaphylococcal activity guided fractionation of Calamintha baborensis extract is achieved.•Dichloromethane fraction from hexane extract exhibited highest anti-staphylococcal activity.•Disaccharide glucuronide is identified as most potent against MRSA with MIC 12.4 μg.mL−1.•Use of Calamintha baborensis for infections in traditional medicine is validated.
