•Components of Amomum tsaoko essential oil (ATEO) were characterized.•ATEO showed excellent anti-inflammatory activity of LPS-induced RAW246.7 cell.•ATEO can inhibit the release of inflammatory factors and chemokines.•ATEO can inhibit iNOS/COX-2 signaling pathway.
