Crops on the edge of a cliff: Storage at Castro S. João das Arribas (Northwest Iberia) in the Late Antiquity

•Late Antique storage in a rural settlement placed in Northeast Portugal.•A fire event has favored the preservation of a great concentration of cereal grains.•Cereals, mainly rye, within a vessel, two storage structures, and their proximities.•An assemblage composed mostly of undemanding crops, which fit the local conditions.
