Factors contributing to work-related violence: A systematic review and systems perspective

•Work-related violence (WV) is a significant issue for many sectors of the workforce.•We do not yet understand the complex work systems and processes involved in WV.•Systems thinking can improve our understanding of factors contributing to WV.•Study findings present an opportunity for future research and intervention.•Findings inform development of new and targeted intervention to mitigate WV risk.
