Repurposing maduramicin as a novel anticancer and anti-metastasis agent for triple-negative breast cancer as enhanced by nanoemulsion

•Maduramicin suppressed triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells growth in vitro and in vivo.•Maduramicin loaded nanoemulsion (MAD-NEs) was successfully fabricated with excellent physicochemical-properties.•MAD-NEs enhanced therapy outcome of TNBC than free maduramicin.•MAD-NEs suppressed growth and metastasis of TNBC via inducing apoptosis and inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition.•MAD and MAD-NEs hold great therapeutic promise for TNBCs in clinical practice.
