Design of Hybrid La1-Xcexcoo3-Δ Catalysts for Lean Methane Combustion Via Creating Active Co and CE Species

In this work, a hybrid La1-xCexCoO3-δ catalyst with the presence of surface Co and Ce species was synthesized, which show excellent activity, stability, and sulfur/water resistance for methane combustion. By acid-etching treatment, the surface structure of the perovskite LCCO can be chemically reconstructed to form small isolated CeO2sur and Co3O4sur nanoparticles (ca. 5 nm), which are considered as the active sites and contributes to the enhanced catalytic activity. In addition, the Ce embedded in the crystal lattice and decorated on the surface of perovskite also plays a crucial role in improving the water resistance by modifying the surface properties of the catalyst, which inhibits the adsorption of steam due to the weak adsorption ability of hydroxyl species.
