Abstract
Summary The study presented here is the first part of a radiometric study of the Santa Creu d’Olorda area (Barcelona province, Spain), with a double objective. Firstly, to use scintillometry as an auxiliary tool for mapping and geology to distinguish materials of similar aspect but with different levels of radioactive isotope emanation. The second objective is related to the interaction of this natural radioactivity with the population living in the area. In this first phase an estimation is made of the most potentially dangerous areas in which a more detailed study will be carried out, including Radon gas measurements, to determine if in any case there may be health effects on the population.
