Use of antidepressants following hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy: A national sample in the US

•Hysterectomy, with or without oophorectomy, was found to be positively associated with antidepressant use.•A positive association between hysterectomy without oophorectomy and antidepressant use was found among non-Hispanic white women and women of other races (i.e., Hispanic, Asian, and multi-racial).•A positive association between hysterectomy with oophorectomy and antidepressant use was found among non-Hispanic black women.
