An approach to detecting diphenylamine content and assessing chemical stability of single-base propellants by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy

•NIRS employed for quantification of diphenylamine in single-base propellants.•The appropriate spectral intervals and pretreatment method for modeling were determined.•The developed model of diphenylamine proved to be reliable by external validation.•Diphenylamine content can be used to assess the chemical stability of single-base propellants.
