Job burnout, effort-reward imbalance and time pressure as predictors of safety among military truck drivers

•We tested the association of job burnout, time pressure and Effort-Reward Imbalance with safe driving.•Our sample included military transport drivers.•No differences in the dependent variables were found between drivers that were and were not involved in road accidents.•We did not find differences in safety scores of drivers who had been involved in road crashes versus those who had not.•We recommend for managers to create safety climate and practices in their organizations to ensure safe behavior of employees.
