453 Value Of Cardiac CT In Children And Young Adults With Congenital Heart Disease And Infective Endocarditis

Introduction: Diagnosis of Infective Endocarditis(IE) can be challenging due to negative blood cultures and difficulties in imaging. Transesophageal echocardiography(TEE) is the gold standard but due to the anterior location of the pulmonary valve, this approach is notoriously difficult and challenging. The Congenital Heart Disease(CHD) population is even more challenging due to post-surgical changes, high incidence of prosthetic material uses and abnormal valve apparatus. Cardiovascular CT(CCT) has been shown to have a diagnostic role for IE in prosthetic and bioprosthetic valves in adults.
