Facile Fabrication of a Series of Cu-doped Co3O4 with Controlled Morphology for Alkali Metal-Ion Batteries

Cu-doped Co3O4 was fabricated by a facile method with Cu-Co-ZIF-67 as the precursor. Different temperatures ranging from 500 to 700 degrees C were set to calcinate Cu-Co-ZIF-67. The influences of calcination temperature on the morphology as well as electrochemical performances for Cu-doped Co3O4 were investigated. The size of the sample became smaller as the calcination temperature increased. Hollow regular dodecahedron could be ob-tained when the calcination temperature was 600 degrees C. Evaluation of the electrochemical performances showed that calcination temperature dramatically influenced the cycling performances of Cu-doped Co3O4 and the optimal calcination temperature was 600 degrees C. The initial charge capacity of 931 mAh g 1 was shown by Cu-doped Co3O4 calcined at 600 degrees C as anode of lithium ion batteries at 100 mA g 1 and a reversible capacity of 1293 mAh g 1 was retained after 300 cycles. In addition, it was also tested as anode for sodium ion batteries and potassium ion batteries with reversible capacities of 522 and 331 mAh g 1, respectively, at 100 mA g 1 after 300 cycles.
