Ballistic Performance of 3D Hybrid Composite Laminates
Advances in Manufacturing Technology and Management(2022)
摘要
This paper investigated the damage effects on partial and full perforation of the basalt and Kevlar hybrid composite laminates subjected to high-velocity impacts. The numerical study is carried out using the user-defined subroutine (VUMAT) to determine the ballistic velocity and residual velocity of the different composite laminates with different stacking sequences. Hybrid composite laminates consist of four different stacking sequences (K3B3, B3K3, B3-16, K3-16) impacting of 9 mm full metal jacket projectile. The explicit analysis of the high-velocity impact is performed to observe the ballistic behavior of the FMJ projectile. As a result of basalt fiber addition, the ballistic velocity of backing Kevlar laminates and for Kevlar laminates is increased if compared to other laminates. The damage behavior of different hybrid stacking sequences is performed to determine the back face deformation behavior, fiber failure, matrix failure, and delamination. The results are compared with the results available in the literature presenting good agreements.
