Research on the Evaluation of the Classical Chinese Difficulty in the Compulsory Education Stage

With the continuous emphasis on the learning of traditional cultural classics in the Chinese textbooks compiled by the Ministry of Education, the research on the selection and teaching of classical Chinese in the compulsory education stage will have an unprecedented special position in the research of Chinese teaching in recent years. This paper explores the difficulty evaluation characteristics of classical Chinese in the compulsory education stage, proposes a method to automatically analyze and examine the difficulty of classical Chinese texts by synthesizing multi-level language features, builds a corpus containing about 500 classical Chinese texts with annotated language characters, describes the textual features of classical Chinese from the three dimensions of word, syntax and text, constructed an indicator system with 17 categories, 30 language features for classical Chinese readability assessment tasks for the readability evaluation of classical Chinese texts, basically confirms that these category factors and text characteristics can affect learners' reading comprehension of classical Chinese.
