摘要
Kim and colleagues present an interesting study of 1814 urology residents who matched across the 2016-2021 application cycles to elucidate institution-specific factors influencing applicant success. 1 Kim JE Kim Jr., IE Lee J et al. Characteristics of medical schools in the United States associated with successful match into urology residency programs: analysis of the 2016-2021 urology resident cohort. Urology. 2022; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.urology.2022.08.047 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF Scopus (2) Google Scholar The authors identified various predictors including faculty size, NIH funding, department ranking, student h-index, geographic region, and presence of a home residency program. Importantly, the study recognizes that a key limitation is the lack of information about specific medical school curricula, commenting that further analysis is necessary to understand the impacts of curricular programming at schools which demonstrate higher success in the match.
