•Cr and V delay the onset of DRX, while Mn and Nb decrease the DRX critical strain.•The addition of alloy elements (Cr, Mn, V, Nb) can retard the DRX kinetics.•Cr, Mn, and V promote the SRX/MDRX kinetics, while Nb does not.•The Ti-47Al-1.5Re-2Mn alloy possesses the most outstanding deformation performance.
