Enabling Technologies of Forward Pumping Distributed Raman Amplification

We present a pilot-aided digital compensation technique to mitigate the impact of pump RIN-transfer in forward-pumped distributed Raman amplification systems. We also show that low-RIN Fabry-Perot pump lasers are suitable for forward Raman pumping in high baud-rate systems with negligible impact of RIN transfer.
