摘要

•45S5 bioactive glass (BG) struts were prepared using injection moulding.•The mechanical integrity of BG struts was improved by polymer coatings.•The gelatin and PCL coatings was applied via simple dip coating approach.•The polymers infiltrated into the micro-cracks present on the surface of struts.•The flexural strength of coated struts was significantly increased.
