摘要
With the advancements in the state of the art electronic and optical technologies, biosensing solutions are minimally invasive and continue to advance in specificity, sensitivity, and longevity. One type of emerging biosensor involves use of implanted hydrogel matrices which phosphoresce when optically excited. In this work, an optimized design of an optoelectronic reader head to interrogate those implants with maximal detected phosphorescence signal strength over a range of relative positions of the subcutaneous biosensor and the skin-attached reader is presented. This optical system was simulated within Zemax OpticStudio and a multivariate analysis was executed to identify the lens configuration which maximized the photon interaction with the implanted sensing material across multi-dimensional offsets.
