Multigroup Multicast Beamforming for High Throughput GEO Satellite Communications under Power-Consumption Outage Constraints

The heat dissipation of high throughput geostationary earth orbit (GEO) satellites poses great challenges to current satellite communications, which may cause performance degradation due to the power-consumption outage (PCO). Motivated by this, we investigate the multigroup multicast beamforming design for high throughput GEO satellite communications as an energy efficiency maximization problem which considers the PCO and total power constraints in this work. To cope with this nonconvex problem, we propose a low-complexity algorithmic approach. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms the conventional one.
