摘要

•Methanol was innovatively used as a solvent for the synthesis of MnFe2O4.•Only MnFe2O4-MA was hollow structure, while the other two were solid particles.•MnFe2O4-MA had the more hydroxyl groups and larger specific surface area.•The hydroxyl functional groups played the major role in As(V) removal.
