Optimized Detector Design of Transition-Edge Sensors for the Calorimetry of Carbon Ion Beams

Transition-edge sensor (TES) calorimeters will contribute to reducing the uncertainty in the dosimetry of carbon ion beams. A TES coupled to a large graphite absorber was designed to measure the energy deposited on materials which are similar to body tissues. We have demonstrated that a TES with a graphite absorber can be applied to the detection of particles.
