摘要

•von Willebrand factor stored in Weibel–Palade bodies (WPBs) mediates angiogenesis.•A range of proteins including angiopoietin-2 (Angpt-2) are also stored in WPBs.•Angpt-2 binds with high affinity to the VWF A1 domain and remains complexed to VWF upon endothelial secretion.•Angpt-2 binding to VWF has no impact on the VWF-platelet capture function.
