摘要

•Achaemenid glazed bricks excavated at Tol-e Ajori (Fras, Iran) were deeply studied for the first time.•Brizziite (NaSbO3) and calcium antimonate (CaSb2O6) were evinced as white opacifiers in glazes.•Egyptian source of Co was attested in the blue glazes from Tol-e Ajori.•Glazed bricks at Tol-e Ajori and the Ishtar Gate are similar in style and technique.
