Bee visitation to flowers throughout New York City

•63% of observed flowers received visitation of five bees within 30 min.•Bumble bees were the most frequent visitor to the nine focal flower types.•Community gardens, private gardens, and parks had high levels of bee visitation.•The 500 m radius was the most influential landscape variable scale.•Moderate increases in tree canopy supported increased flower visitation.
