A cold dispersion equation of the staggered double-blade slow-wave structure (SDB-SWS) is presented in this paper. The preliminary parameters are obtained by the numerical solution of the dispersion equation. Then, in order to improve the output power, a drift segment is introduced in the present structure. Compared with the conventional rectangular grating structure for BWO, this structure can gain higher power. The particle in cell (PIC) simulation of the proposed slow-wave structure was carried out, and the output power of 12W was obtained at the operating voltage of 23.8kV and current of 35mA. The output power by the pre-bunch section is enhanced by 5.5W.
