A Systematic Literature Review of Diagnostic and Treatment Approaches of Retroperitoneal Lipoma

Background: Retroperitoneal lipomas are a rare condition, posing challenges for the appropriate diagnosis, treatment and management. Usually these neoplasms are asymptomatic for a long time before they cause symptoms due to shifting of adjacent structures and organs. Preoperative diagnosis remains still a challenge due to difficulties in differential diagnosis with retroperitoneal liposarcoma. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review, according to PRISMA guidelines, aiming to understand the current diagnostic and treatment approaches.
