摘要
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder with genetic factors contributing to its etiology. Genome-wide association studies have identified variants at THADA gene that were shown to be associated with PCOS in Chinese and Europeans suggesting they may be important in the etiology of PCOS. However, the impact of these loci in other ethnicities remains to be determined. This is important as it may enable selection of suitable treatment or preventative options since women with PCOS have an increased risk of developing complications like diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
