摘要
Salinity stress is one of the major threats both to agricultural land and global food production, with anthropogenic activities intensifying this salinity conundrum. The accumulation of salts in the soil negatively influences the plant growth and productivity by mainly inducing osmotically induced water stress, oxidative stress, and specific-ion stress. Salt stress also affects the nutritional status of plants by interfering with the metabolic processes of different essential nutrients including nitrogen. The salt stress significantly affects the nitrogen metabolism of the plants by interfering with the uptake, transport, and assimilatory processes of nitrogen metabolism. The current chapter signifies the impact of salt stress on plants with special emphasis on the nitrogen metabolism of plants.
