Predictive value of IOM in clipping of unruptured intracranial aneurysms – A prospective study from the surgeon's point of view

•IOM remains invaluable, especially during temporary clipping of MCA and AcomA Aneurysms.•Prospective study analyzing the impact of IOM on the surgeon's strategy during microsurgical aneurysm clipping.•Temporary clipping up to 18 ​min is possible without causing postoperative neurological deficits.•IOM granted the surgeon a higher sense of security , which encourages the surgeon during surgery.
