Projecting the impacts of the bioeconomy on Nordic land use and freshwater quality and quantity – An overview

•Five contrasting scenarios describe a developing Nordic bio-economy towards 2050.•The scenarios led to substantial differences in land use cover and intensity.•This in turn affected hydrology and nutrient load in half of the catchments.•Patterns of final ecosystem service delivery were strongly affected.•The summed total economic value was similar among the two most disparate scenarios.•The sustainability scenario optimised water quality and biodiversity without welfare loss.
