Synergies and trade-offs among ecosystems functions and services for three types of lake-edge wetlands

•Wetland type, indicator choice and aggregation influence synergies and trade-offs among EFS.•Peatland and ash swamps had strong opposing patterns of EFS provisioning.•The three wetland types maximized biodiversity, but supported different taxonomic group.•Using a single indicator for biodiversity might lead to diverging conclusions.•Our results provide a benchmark for wetland conservation planning.
