Diuretic use and risk of falls in older women with urinary incontinence

•Use of diuretics may not exacerbate fall risk in women with urinary incontinence.•The study highlights the complex relations between geriatric syndromes and falls.•Older age, hypertension and depression were associated with increased risk of falls.•There is the need to individualize treatments to reduce risk of falls.
