Photochemical degradation of fluorinated graphite stimulated by embedded nitrogen oxides

摘要
•Fluorinated graphite (FG) CF0.4 is irradiated with a synchrotron white beam.•XPS spectra showed little change in the composition of the irradiated layers.•Under photon action, HNO3, NO2, NO, and N2 decompose inside the FG matrix.•Embedded NOx molecules stimulate FG defluorination and vacancy formation.•Nitrogen from NOx molecules saturates the boundaries of vacancies.
