摘要

•Spinel NiCo2O4 is synthesized hydrothermally and then air-annealed at 300–450 °C.•Single-phase spinel face-centered cubic NiCo2O4 is obtained at 350 °C.•SEM revealed the formation of NiCo2O4 with nanowires and nanorod-like morphology.•Sample annealed at 350 °C exhibited superior electrochemical properties towards HER.
