Building integrated innovative non-imaging concentrating solar collector for clean cooking under low sun elevation

•A building-integrated solar thermal collector (BISTC) for cooking was proposed.•BISTC uses non-imaging compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) and is non-tracking.•BISTC attains the intermediate temperatures under low sun elevation.•Thermal performance BISTC evaluated using Opto-thermal Ratio (COR) for the first time.•Ray tracing optical simulation for the novel BISTC was performed.
