Heart Rhythm Society Membership Committee Viewpoint: Update and current initiatives.

The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) was originally founded in 1979 (as North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology [NASPE]) as a professional society specifically focused on North America and in 1979 admitted 90 total members.1 Since its founding in 1979, HRS has evolved into the largest worldwide electrophysiology (EP) society, with membership increasing nearly 100-fold to more than 7600 total members (Online Supplemental Figure S1), which is the highest membership on record for HRS, and members from around the world (Online Supplemental Table S1).
