•Soundscape attributes in Spanish reproduce the original ISO 12913 English version of the protocol.•Spanish translation of ISO 12913 protocol intended to be used both by native and non-native Spanish speakers.•It is suggested that original version of ISO 12913 protocol be revised in the eventful/uneventful dimensions.
